The traditional annual event took place at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper “We are comforted to know that things are being well and rigorously" said president Josep Maria Bartomeu

The teams from U10 though to Barça B were officially presented for the 2014/15 season, a total of 288 boys and 75 girls, on Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

The event was attended by Josep Maria Bartomeu (president), Jordi Mestre (director of professional football), Silvio Elías (director of Barça B and U19 A), Ramon Cierco (director of youth football), Andoni Zubizarreta (sports director of professional football) and his assistant Carles Puyol, Jordi Roura (sports director of women’s football) and Aureli Altimira (coordinator of women’s football).

U14 A player Eric Garcia opened the event with words about the “capacity for sacrifice, humility and solidarity” among the young players, while U18 girls’ team player Maria Llompart described her “pride to form part of this youth set-up”.

Same idea, says Bartomeu

Josep Maria Bartomeu spoke of how “the club’s idea of youth football is getting better each day. Our concept is the same, even though the people have changed … We have got a lot right over the years even though there have been small mistakes – which we have learned from and corrected. We are doing things right and vigorously”.

Ramon Cierco, Andoni Zubizarreta and Jordi Roura also spoke, after which all of the youth coaches and their squads posed for the official 2014/15 photographs.

October 4 and 5 produced plenty more quality football from the FC Barcelona youth teams

All of the Barça youth teams won their games at the weekend – and there were some great performances around from some truly promising players. The ‘Promeses’ show on Barça TV came up with its weekly selection of the best goals of the week, opting for U18 B’s Carles Aleñà, U14 A’s Ansumane Fati with a powerful shot from outside the area U8 player Lamine Yamal, U16 B’s Sergio Gómez and the pick of the bunch, scored by Lionel Enguene of the U18 A team. The Cameroonian collects the ball in midfield and rounds five PSG players before thumping the ball home. A goal his namesake Messi would be proud of.

From another great week for the FC Barcelona youth teams, we've picked out five of the best goals we saw

It’s that time of the week again! Yes, it’s our latest collection of goalscoring brilliance from the next generation of Barça superstars. To begin with, we’ve got Sergio Gómez of U16 B, who’s no stranger to these videos. We’ve got Wilfrid Kaptoum in fourth with the second of Barça B’s four goals against Alcorcón. And then there’s Ansumane Fati and Miguelete Ramírez both of the U14 A team. ‘Ansu’ scored the third placed goal and set up the one in second for the diminutive Andalusian. But the pick of the pack comes from Cameroonian Jean Marie Dongou of Barça B, with a headed goal for which Adama was equally to be thanked for a staggering play to set his team-mate up.

Here's the latest selection of goalscoring brilliance from our youth teams

And here we go with our latest selection of the top five goals scored by the academy teams. The ranking for the weekend of October 25 and 26 starts with Matías Lacava of the U14 B team, scored after a wonderful piece of individual flair. Next up, it’s Xavi Simons, the U12 A team captain, who finishes a terrific move with a fine strike. Third place goes to a goal that was actually scored last Tuesday, but it was far too good to be left out on a technicality! It’s the one that Àlex Carbonell of the U19 team scored against Ajax in the UEFA Youth League. He controls the ball on his chest, beats his defender and puts the ball away to perfection. In second place, we’ve got young Roger Coll of the U10 A team, who uses just three touches to get past his marker and then beats the Jabac goalkeeper from an angle. But the honour for the best goal of the week goes to Pau Servat of the U12 A team. An absolute thunderbolt from outside the area that’s a more than worthy winner, as you will see when you watch the video!

The FC Barcelona youth teams had another fantastic weekend, with fifteen wins and just two losses. And our pick of the best goals begins with Xavi Toldrà of the U16 A team who beats the Sant Cugat keeper in a one-on-one. In fourth we’ve got Aitor Cantalapiedra of U18 A with a cheeky chip, and in third it’s Iker Almeida of U12 C as he finishes off a terrific one-two. Second place goes to Ricard Puig of U16 A with a wonderful piece of chest control and two dummies before beating the keeper, while goal of the week goes to Iker Merino of U12 C, who scores direct from a corner.

The weekend of the 8th and 9th of November has left us with some cracking strikes from the Barça youth teams

The 8th and 9th of November has left us with some fantastic goals courtesy of the FC Barcelona youth teams. This selection of five goals is clear evidence from a weekend in which the majority of the teams came away with a victory. The Barça TV programme ‘Next Generation’ has chosen the best 5 goals seen at the Ciutat Esportiva and also those scored away from home.

In 5th place Iker Bravo with his long range effort for the U10 B side. Then comes Marc Pelaz’s strike, the U12 A player leaving behind the Mariano Poblet for a stunning solo effort. In the same game Mamadou Saidou’s goal earns him third place this week. His thunderous shot from way out catches the opposing keeper off guard. With a similar goal, Alejandro Balde finds himself in second place. Also from the U12 A side his left footed shot is too much for the poor Mariano Poblet keeper. Top spot this week goes to Nicolás Fuentes from the U12 D side. His solo strike is fully deserving of being the best of the Academy’s goals last weekend.

Francesc Granja was the first guest for a series of lectures given to the youngsters at FC Barcelona His talk was based on coaching sportspeople in who they are and what they want to be

Who are you? That was the question Francesc Granja asked in the first of this season’s lectures in the auditorium at La Masia, where the young residents of the Centre de Formació Oriol Tort benefited from a fascinating meeting with a leading life coach.

Today’s guest speaker was a director in a multinational company, but after suffering tetraplegia, his whole attitude to life changed. He decided to do what he most enjoys – to converse with and connect with people, which led him into the world of life-coaching.

His talk raised a number of issues about the young players, asking where they are in life, and where they want to go. Many of the audience shared their views in public as they discovered that there is so much more to them as people that just being promising sportspeople.

Granja encouraged them to “think about being yourselves, living coherently, being authentic, feeling and connecting with your essence.” He believes that life is a series of experiences that help us to understand why it is that we have been brought into this world. A good quality of living, he believes, depends most of all on how honest we are in our responses, as well as our capacity to transfer such conclusions to our day-to-day lives.

In third place we have Rubén Nuñez from the U8’s. The midfielder speeds past two players and finishes perfectly. Pablo Moreno from the U14 A side is the star of the second placed goal. He places a perfect header past the keeper following a cross from the right hand side. The top three consists of strikes by Riqui Puig, Alen Halilovic and Lionel Enguene

The Barça TV programme ‘Promeses’ has chosen the best 50 goals from the youth teams during the first half of this 2014/15 season. The goals on the list are all thanks to the hard work put in at the Club’s youth system during the last few months both at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and away from the FC Barcelona facilities.

Amongst the best goals comes Lionel Enguene’s strike. His effort against Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Youth League makes it to number three on the list. The Cameroonian picks up the ball in midfield and scores a tremendous solo effort, leaving defenders trailing behind in his wake. Second place on the list is reserved for Barça B midfielder Alen Halilovic. The young Croatian shows great pace for his goal against Girona as well as control and finesse to finish well. In first place on the list of 50 goals is a strike from U16A squad member Riqui Puig. The goal is the fruit of some great team work with Puig subtly rounding off a great counter attack.

The best five goals from Barça's Academy teams on the weekend of January 31/February 1

After another great weekend of goals from the Club’s academy and reserve teams, we’ve come up with five of the best including Halilovic’s strike against Sabadell and one from the Under 12s Toni Caravaca that brings to mind Ronaldinho’s famous goal at Stamford Bridge.

The winner this week though, is the goal scored by the Under 14s Pablo Moreno – a lovely chip over the Nastic keeper.

Academy player Toni Caravaca scored an identical goal to the one the Brazilian got at Stamford Bridge in 2005

There’s never any shortage of drama when the weekend comes around at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The youth teams are in action, and some of the action can be just as good as what the first team provide! We certainly saw an example of that this week thanks to Toni Caravaca of the Barça U12 C team in a game with Cubelles. His goal bore an uncanny resemblance to one scored by Ronaldinho ten years ago.

That was the one the Brazilian superstar got at Stamford Bridge in the 2004/05 season. With Carvalho between Petr Cech and the goalposts, Ronaldinho stood calm on the edge of the area and stabbed the ball with his toe to send it looping goalward. A goal that looked to have qualified Barça for the Champions League quarter finals, although Chelsea ended up winning 5.4 on aggregate. And now Caravaca has repeated the same magic in a 7-a-side youth game. Check out this video! The two goals are almost mirror images of each other. Toni … You’re a hero!
