U12 team's strike has become a big hit on social media

It is quite unusual for a goal from the Barça U12A team to be seen all around the world but it is a strike that is certainly worth it. The youth team player Pablo López comes in from the right hand side, takes on two players and then lays it off to Iker Almena who rounds of the move with a great left foot finish.

The U12A side ran out 13-0 winners against Cornellà and they now lead their group in the division with 35 goals scored in just three matches.

In the Top 5 this week we find another great team goal, this time from U14A team player Pablo Moreno and a goal straight from a corner from Sergio Gómez from the U16A side.

To complete the list we have another from Iker Almena, a net-bursting effort from the edge of the box and a typical striker’s effort from Gabriel Martínez from the U14B side.

Our pick of the five best goals from another great weekend for the youth teams

On a weekend on which every one of the academy teams recorded wins, the ‘Promeses’ show on Barça TV once again picked its goals of the week. Top spot goes to Iker Bravo of the U12 C team with a great bit of skill with his left foot against EFO 87. In the same game, Tomàs Carbonell rifled home a beauty from the edge of the area, and is rewarded with second place.

Third and fifth place are also taken from goals from the same match, this time the U10 A team, with won 12-1 against CN Terrassa. Joan Quiles takes on two players before slotting the ball home at the far post, and Pau Prim produces a powerful drive from the edge of the penalty area.

The other goal in our selection is one by Aitor Cantalapiedra against Alocoyano, with a cheeky chip after spotting the keeper off his line.

The eleven youth football teams have scored a staggering number of goals this year Six Barça academy team players are the top scorers in their respective categories

FC Barcelona’s playing philosophy has been strengthened this season through the outstanding play of the youth teams. And this idea, which has brought so much success to the Club, is nothing more than maintaining possession with play characterised by touch passing and control, creating pressure as a unit, by keeping the lines together on their opponents’ side of the field, recovering balls quickly and always playing vertically to overcome rival defences and finish efficiently and accurately.

Thus far, the results are more than satisfactory. The club’s 11 youth football teams (from U-7 through U-16) have scored 426 goals in 77 played so far this season. That’s an average of 5.5 goals per game, which reinforces the philosophy of offensive play taught at La Masia from an early age.

Youth academy goals
TEAM GOALS GAMES AVERAGE
U-16 23 7 3.2
U-15 24 6 4
U-14 52 8 6.5
U-13 19 6 3.1
U-12 A 83 8 10.3
U-12 B
35 8 4.3
U-11 A 53 6 8.8
U-11 B 23 6 3.8
U-10 54 8 6.75
U-9 31 8 3.8
U-8 29 6 4.8
TOTAL 426 77 5.5

The deluge of goals is the result of sacrifice and excellent teamwork. Every player in the FC Barcelona youth academy knows this and that is why all of them feel involved in the success enjoyed by the six La Masia players who, so far this season, are the top scorers in each of their respective categories.

The numbers clearly support the offensive philosophy of the Club’s youth academy:
