‘Miguelete’ Ramírez's goal against La Floresta is clear evidence that the Club's youth development model is a winner

The play lasted for 17 seconds and was spectacular. Seven Barça players were involved. Six vertical passes were made and then, the final touch, by 'Miguelete' Ramírez. Splendid. Sensational. Want more adjectives to describe such a goal? Grab your thesaurus.

The goal, which put FC Barcelona's Under-15 team up 1–0 against La Floresta, was recently highlighted as a top youth academy goal by Barça TV. "This goal is the epitome of the Club's model. It is the best example of our DNA," said Cristian Catena, the coach of the U-15 team, which leads their group with 11 wins, 57 goals scored and only 6 against. Even Luis Enrique has offered them praise as example of the good work being done by the youth teams.

From a very young age, FC Barcelona players are instilled with two main ideas which were perfectly reflected in the U-15 team's goal. First, the team that has the ball owns the Game. And second, when youi have the ball, the whole team has fun."

That's what makes the U-15 goal so special. "From the time kids come to our club we do a lot of work to define our offensive identity. We teach them that the goalkeeper is the first one who helps generate superiority, as seen, for example, in this goal," Catena said.

"The goal against La Floresta demonstrates two very important things: the whole team was involved in a clear demonstration of collective play and all the decisions that were made when the players received the ball were correct. Everyone did what they had to do at that moment. That's what lends even more value to this goal," Catena continued.

The coach explained that the goal represents the values instilled in all of the Club's academy teams. "Generosity and confidence inb your teammate. Group confidence is what produces a goal like this in only seven touches. I think all of our coaches can feel proud when all of the work done throughout the week, by the whole club, culminates in a collective goal like this one. It shows that the Club's model is working," he said.

The FC Barcelona U14B side are the champions of the LaLiga Promises tournament which took place in Miami, USA after a 2-0 win over Villarreal in the semi-final and a spectacular 4-3 victory over Valencia in the final. The final against Valencia was a thrilling affair with Barça edging it in a seven goal thriller. Moriba Kourouma, fresh from his brace in the semi-final against Villarreal, opened the scoring. His second was an example of pure power - a shot from outside the box that was always destined for the back of the net. Valencia, to their credit, never gave up and Cristian Valera’s goal guaranteed emotion until the final minutes. However, Barça held on for the win and Sergi Milà’s side return with the trophy after victory in the prestigious youth football tournament.

From the moment they get up to the moment they go to sleep, this is what a day is like in the life of the players at the Oriol Tort training centre

The boys and girls that grow up at the FC Barcelona Masia have very busy days. This video, screened on Thursday at the presentation of the Club’s new model for youth football, shows a day in the life at the Oriol Tort Training Centre: from the moment that the young athletes wake up, following them on the school bus, going back for lunch at the Masia, doing classes before training, having dinner and then going to bed.

Throughout its history, la Masia has never stopped expanding and a number of its former residents have gone on to have a huge impact at the Club. These have included the likes of Guillermo Amor, Pep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova, Jordi Roura, Sergi Barjuan, Carles Puyol and Xavi Hernández, as well as players that are still in the first team now, like Andrés Iniesta, Leo Messi and Sergi Roberto. Barça TV programme 'Next Generation' brings us once again the best five goals from the youth teams at La Masia this week

Once again Barça TV programme ‘Next Generation’ have put together a video of the best five goals scored by the Club’s youth teams last weekend. Goal of the week comes from U16B player Sergi Rosanas, an effort from his own half in a game against Escola Valls.

The second in this week’s list is a goal from Iker Almena from the U12A side – a precise finish from team mate’s Pablo Páez cross. The next comes from Barça B’s win over Pobla de Mafumet. Dani Romera’s solo effort is the third in the top five – a well placed left footed effort in a game in which he scored twice.

The U16B game against Escola Valls also produced the fourth goal in the list this week. Jaume Cuéllar, after an excellent team move, opens the scoring. The fifth comes from U14 striker Pablo Moreno, top scorer in the division with 40 goals, with a finish from a tight angle.

This video shows two goals by Marc Jurado and Iker Almena in which the U12 team shows remarkable maturity as they read the game to perfection and combine perfect passes

Here are a couple of goals from the Barça youth teams where you can really appreciate how the famous style of the first team is drilled into the players from a remarkably young age. It’s footballing poetry!

The first comes from a game involving the U12 team against L’Hospitalet. The move leading up the goal oozes class, with plenty of accurate passing and clever runs both on and off the ball, as the whole team gels and one. Barça’s seventh goal of the game comes after 25 minutes of possession straight from the kick-off, with a series of combination plays and one-twos eventually finished off by Marc Jurado.

The second was scored by Iker Almena, and was the eighth of the game last weekend, with a lot of the credit going to Pablo Páez Gavira for the assist. As his manager Marc Serra explains “Pablo checks where his team-mate is as he receives the pass and then controls the ball. He’s processed all of the information before he makes the pass leading to the goal.”

It’s all about teaching the youngsters to read the game. “That is why our style requires such constant thinking” continues Serra. “Before they receive the ball, the boys have to look, analyse, anticipate what their opponents are going to do and decide what the right move is. In these two goals they make all the right decisions.

The U12 team are currently top of their division with a one hundred per cent record, having scored 140 goals and conceded just ten.

Carles Martínez’s team lose 1-0 in their first friendly of their visit against Aspire Football Dreams under the watchful eye of the former Barça captain

The FC Barcelona U14A side, coached by Carles Martínez, received a special visit on Tuesday during their stay in Qatar. Former Barça captain Xavi Hernández, now in the country with Al Sadd, made the trip to see the squad at the Aspire Academy in their first friendly against an Aspire Football Dreams XI. The blaugranes were unlucky to lose, an own goal in the last minute of the first half giving the Qatari side a 1-0 win.

Xavi stayed on to have his photo taken with both sets of players after the game, congratulating the U14A side’s on their performance, very much in keeping with the Barça style despite the strong winds. “It has been a very positive experience. They have a very strong side, very physical and are one of the best sides in the world in the age group. Like Xavi said, we competed very well and I am very happy,” revealed Martínez, adding that the players welcomed the opportunity to congratulate Xavi for his 36th birthday which was on Monday.

The U14A side will play their second friendly against Aspire Football Dreams on Thursday.

The group presented the findings of a study on the situation of the Catalan language in the gaming industry, showing that there is no sign of it in video games, despite the demand.

The event, which included experts and members of the gaming industry as well as journalist Joaquim Maria Puyal, has served to raise awareness of this issue and the importance of the normalisation of Catalan in the gaming and entertainment industry.
